ATC Options
Rotation options are available for effective anticoccidial programs. Establishing a rotation program is important in prolonging the effective life of anticoccidial drugs in the face of constant selection for drug resistance (Chapman, 1997).
Some ways of doing it:
Full or Straight program uses the same anticoccidial drug from day one to withdrawal of feeds. After a few production cycles, it is recommended to change to a drug from another class.
Shuttle program uses one anticoccidial drug type in the starter/grower phases then switch to another in the grower/finisher period.
In rotation, there are more considerations than just switching to another anticoccidial drug.
We are here to guide you all the way!
Thoroughly understanding the mode of action (MOA) and specific attributes of each molecule are vital in ensuring effective coccidiosis management. Rotation, as a cornerstone strategy in this regard, becomes even more potent when guided by a deep understanding of these MOAs and unique characteristics.
By combining this knowledge with a well-executed rotation plan, you can maximize the efficacy of anticoccidials while minimizing the risks associated with their current program.ATC Thailand Wheel
